MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – August 8, 2021 – The entire Revera family offers its most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of The Honourable William G. Davis, P.C., C.C., Q.C., former premier of Ontario, on his passing today.
Bill Davis was known for his long-standing service to the community of Brampton, to the Province of Ontario and to the country as a whole.
Mr. Davis joined Revera’s Board in 2001 and continued to provide his counsel and wisdom as the company’s Board Chair Emeritus right up until his passing.
“Mr. Davis was an inspiration to me and to the entire Revera community,” said Thomas Wellner, President and CEO, Revera. “He left his mark on the world and while we are deeply saddened by his passing, we recognize his lifetime of achievements and celebrate his many contributions.”
Mr. Davis served as the Premier of Ontario from 1971 to 1985 and was a Member of the Ontario Legislature from 1959 to 1985. Among his many honours and titles, Mr. Davis was recognized as a Companion of the Order of Canada, a Member of the Order of Ontario, and a Member of the Privy Council.
“I’m proud to have been able to call Bill Davis my friend. He will be deeply missed. He spent a lifetime strengthening the fabric of this province and this nation,” said Hazel McCallion, Chief Elder Officer, Revera. “I have so much respect for his many accomplishments, particularly his immense contributions to education and our work together at Revera, helping to improve the aging experience for seniors.”
In March 2019, Revera honoured Mr. Davis’ contribution to the company at Greenway Retirement Residence in his beloved Brampton, by naming its newly renovated fitness centre The Bill Davis Fitness Centre in his honour.
