Making a Difference
Throughout life, people search for ways to contribute to society and
often, what they find is that the secret is giving. Anyone who has
championed a cause or acts as a volunteer understands the immense
rewards associated with making a difference.
At Revera, we have a great responsibility and a great privilege to serve
and to celebrate our residents. And in the spirit of honouring the
people we serve, this edition of
Revera Living
focuses on those who
give, and acts as a tribute to the many wonderful people involved in
our communities. You’ll read about residents who still actively support
causes, volunteers who donate time to give residents a chance to
enjoy their communities and staff who raise funds and awareness for
vital causes.
The best way to find yourself,” said Gandhi, “is to lose yourself in the
service of others.” Many of the people you’ll meet in this edition of
Revera Living
are a prime example.
This includes residents like the Zimmermans, the Clarks and Nadine
Heins, who volunteer or who simply seek regular opportunities to
lend a hand. And you’ll learn about staff from our residences that go
above and beyond to serve their community in a special capacity. In
our feature story, we’re also proud to highlight just a few of the many
residents who answered the call of their country during the Second
World War, which began 75 years ago.
The members of our Revera communities offer many lessons about
the dimensions of service. We appreciate their contributions, and the
reminders of what truly makes a difference.
Reuben Huva from Revera’s Hollyburn House in West
