Excellence in Care Delivered
Through LeadershipTraining
Good leadership makes all the difference
which is why, as part of our ongoing
commitment to excellence in care, Revera
has partnered with York University in Toronto,
Ont., to develop and execute the country’s
first ever Director of Care in Training (DOCIT)
certificate program.
This exciting and unique training opportunity
has been specifically built to provide an
enhanced learning opportunity for the
Director of Care (DOC), the Registered Nurse
responsible for the delivery of clinical care in
each of our homes.
The first group of 20 Revera DOCs from
Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British
Columbia entered the program in September
and will take four course modules over an
eight month time period. These nurses will
continue to work in their homes, and will also
be partially graded on how well the learnings
are implemented into the home throughout
the certification process.
This course was developed based on the
current and future role and responsibilities of
the Director of Care. We’ve really worked to

provide the DOCs with elevated skills to build
on our quality care initiatives,” says Dana
Hardy, National Director Quality Improvement.
The end goal is to support DOCs to continue
to serve the needs of residents and their
