Is Your Parent Ready for Retirement Living?

Retirement living can be a positive lifestyle change for your loved ones, and should be based on careful considerations and thoughtful conversations. To help you see if it might be time to think about retirement living, and time to have those talks, answer the following questions:

Yes/No
  1. Does your parent appear lonely and do you believe they would benefit from more social interaction and activities in their life?
  2. Does your parent feel unsafe at home alone?
  3. Is their house or yard not as neat and clean as it used to be?
  4. Does your parent require more assistance to complete daily activities?
  5. Is your parent telling you that he/she is eating, even though they’re losing weight?
  6. Is food going bad in their refrigerator (not being used or forgotten)?
  7. Is your parent getting injured through falls or other accidents, and/or trying to hide injuries from you?
  8. Is your parent wearing the same clothes over and over, and/or neglecting regular hygiene?
  9. Is your parent unable to take medications correctly?
  10. Are you worried that your parent cannot respond appropriately to an emergency?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may want to talk to your parent(s) about the rewards of retirement living, and investigate the options. Learn more.
