Thomas Wellner has extensive global experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals and health care services in both public and private businesses. Prior to joining Revera in April 2014, Mr. Wellner was co-CEO of LifeLabs, and was previously President and CEO of CML HealthCare where he led the transformation of the organization by setting a new strategic direction, improving operational effectiveness and completing multiple transactions. He also served as President and CEO of Therapure Biopharma, a company specializing in contract development and manufacturing of biologics. He began his career at global pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly and held a variety of leadership roles, including President and General Manager of operations in Germany. Mr. Wellner holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, and has completed executive education through Harvard Business School. He has been a guest lecturer on international business and healthcare at Harvard, Rotman and INSEAD Schools of Business, and has been engaged in significant advisory work within public equity and venture capital communities.
Prior to joining Revera in January 2010, Ms. Barbato was President and Chief Executive Officer of COTA Health, a leading community care provider specializing in mental health and rehabilitation services. She was also Vice President, Corporate Services, and Chief Financial Officer of Providence Healthcare in Toronto, and Managing Director of Bayshore Healthcare. Ms. Barbato is a Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant and holds an Economics degree from the University of Waterloo.
Prior to joining Revera in 2008, Ms. Brow had over 20 years’ experience in the human resources and labour relations field. She has held both managerial and executive positions predominantly in the health care and hospitality sectors, including leadership roles at the Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto and with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, one of the world’s largest hotel and leisure companies. Ms. Brow holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Economics from York University in Toronto and a Masters of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto.
Mr. Cerrone joined Revera in 1998 and was previously the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Retirement Residences Real Estate Investment Trust. He has extensive experience providing legal advice on a wide range of issues ranging from mergers and acquisitions to tax and securities law. After pursuing a double major in English and Philosophy at the University of Toronto, Mr. Cerrone graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1985 and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1987.
Stephen Foster has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality sector. Prior to joining Revera in 2013, he was Senior Vice President with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, one of the largest hotel and leisure companies in the world. He has also held senior leadership positions with ITT Sheraton and Cara Operations. Mr. Foster received an honourary doctorate from Ryerson University in 2000, and was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his leadership in hospitality and tourism in 2012.
Jim Hardy provides strategic leadership to Revera’s finance and IT teams. He has over 25 years of experience as a corporate executive, investment banker and entrepreneur. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Public Mobile. He has also held finance leadership positions at Sprint Canada, National Bank Financial and TD Securities/TD Bank. Mr. Hardy has served on several corporate and charitable boards. He holds a B.A. Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors program at the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto.
Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Kaniuk held a variety of senior management roles with Revera, including Vice President of Canadian Long Term Care Operations and Senior Director of Development. Mr. Kaniuk has over 30 years experience in the long term care sector, and before joining Revera, held various senior positions with an established Toronto-based long term care management firm. He has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, and is a recent alumnus of the Queen’s School of Business Executive Program.
Donna Kelsey comes to us with a long career in health care and a successful track record in leadership positions. Most recently, she was an Executive Vice President of Operations for Kindred Healthcare, where she oversaw 110 nursing centers in 14 states, and a workforce of 10,000 employees. While at Kindred, Donna consistently exceeded performance targets. Her region, for example, achieved the number one national ranking for improved clinical care, center-based leadership, strategic planning and financial control. Donna served in the United States Naval Reserve and achieved the rank of Captain. She was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, the Naval Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. She was also selected as one of the first women to go to sea. Donna holds a BA in Biology from Colgate University and a MS degree in Community Health from Old Dominion University. Reporting directly to Thomas Wellner, Donna will provide strategic leadership to the US Division.
Daryl Kish has more than 30 years of experience in real estate asset management and finance. He began his career as a chartered accountant, and then transitioned into asset management in the hotel industry. Mr. Kish worked for companies including Westmont Hospitality Management, Royco Hotels and Resorts, Crown Life Insurance and Carma/Nuwest Developments, before joining Revera in 2008 as Vice President, Asset Management. He was promoted to Senior Vice President, Real Estate and Asset Management in 2013.
Janet Ko is a business leader with more than 20 years experience in various sectors including pharmaceuticals, global life sciences and healthcare. She has helped organizations drive strong performance by unleashing the power of marketing and communications to engage employees and customers.
Ms. Ko has built high performing teams and created award winning programs to enhance corporate reputation and brand preference. She has managed complex issues and led merger, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring and shareholder communications. She has also led the development of community involvement and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Ms. Ko received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and History and a Masters of Arts in Journalism from The University of Western Ontario. She also holds a Queen’s University Certificate in Organization Development.
